Musicians on Musicians: T-Swift & McCartney

Sweater-clad and looking cozy yet classic as ever, pop music sensations from two generations separated by decades between them, American musician Taylor Swift and English 1960s pop-rock band Beatles’ Paul McCartney met for an intimate collaborative in-person conversation and photoshoot. As part of Rolling Stone’s Special Issue, the American magazine published a series called “Musicians on Musicians” featuring multiple pairs of musical legends of the current era including Lil Baby in conversation with Lil Wayne, Elvis Costello with Iggy Pop, and Future with Roddy Ricch.

After months of quarantine and inability to travel, Taylor Swift was finally able to travel to the London offices of Paul McCartney in October 2020 for a sweet classic photoshoot by the English singer’s daughters with photography by Mary McCarteny and styling by English fashion designer Stella McCartney.

During the conservation, they discuss Swift’s latest album “Folklore” and McCartney’s upcoming self-produced album “McCartney III”, where he played nearly all of the instruments himself, creating a series of “wildly ambitious songs”. They reminisce longingly over past parties, covering other musicians works just for the sake of creating that perfect classic pop rock vibe. Meanwhile, they also wonder about the fact that they were supposed to be headlining the Glastonbury Festival this past summer and how instead they ended up creating their own albums by themselves in isolation.
