This article is free of spoilers to prevent ruining the show for anyone who wishes to watch the show for the first time or continue watching it from any point.

Television’s beloved forensic analyst moonlighting as a vigilante serial killer, Dexter is returning to the screens for a limited series and the news was just recently confirmed while they had been dropping hints since August this year.

The lead role of Dexter Morgan will be portrayed by the original actor, award-winning American actor and producer Michael C. Hall. Hall has also appeared as David Fisher in HBO’s Six Feet Under but is better known for his Showtime Networks series that ran for a total of eight seasons before closing off in 2013. Now, he is returning for the role of Dexter in what can only be assumed and hoped will be another award-winning, screen shattering season, regardless of the fact that it will only run for the duration of 10 episodes.

Dexter, which first aired in 2006, shows the lead role as a forensic blood spatter analyst for the police department of Miami, who because of his homicidal tendencies is also secretly a vigilante serial killer of heinous perpetrators during the night and his free time. The show is based on Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay.

Gary Levine, the president of Showtime Entertainment says about bringing back the show: “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.” He then goes on to reveal about the executive producers: “Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”
