Aamir Khan Meets Turkish First Lady Emine Ergodan
On the anniversary of the Indian Independence Day, August 15th, “3 Idiots” Indian actor Aamir Khan met with the First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdoğan to discuss the actor’s decision in wrapping up the shooting of his upcoming film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in parts of Turkey. While Turkish architecture and movie aficionados and fans of Aamir Khan are happy with this, numerous Indians are of a different opinion.
The 55-year-old Indian actor met with First Lady Erdogan on Saturday, August 15th, but people, especially Indians, seem to want to bash him for this meeting rather than celebrating the spread of Bollywood cinema.
Emine Ergodan tweeted photographs from the meeting that took place on a terrace overlooking the watery scenery of Turkey saying, “I had the great pleasure of meeting @aamir_khan, the world-renowned Indian actor, filmmaker, and director, in Istanbul. I was happy to learn that Aamir decided to wrap up the shooting of his latest movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in different parts of Turkey. I look forward to it!”

According to TheCurrent.pk, reports say that the meeting was held to not just discuss the shoot locations for Khan’s movie in Turkey, but also so that he could update the First Lady on the work on his and his wife Kiran Rao’s non-profit organization “Paani Foundation”.
The meeting urged outrage and backlash from Indians due to the condemnation from Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in regards to Indian brutality in Kashmir. He has also showed his support for Pakistan on numerous occasions including sending out wishes over the recent Muslim holiday, Eid Ul Azha that is widely celebrated in Pakistan. The Kashmir issue has been the most problematic point of concern between the two countries, and Pakistan and its President Dr Arif Alvi receiving support from the Turkish president is a matter that upsets Indians to a point that they are ready to boycott the film.
