Zoo Gorillas Tested Positive for COVID-19
The San Diego Zoo revealed that two gorillas have been tested positive for COVID-19.
The veterinarians claim that the apes caught the infection from an asymptomatic caretaker.
The news comes as a shock to many because earlier it was believed that animals cannot get the virus from humans.
“They are being closely observed and there is nothing to suggest today that they won’t make a full recovery,” the zoo management revealed.
The San Diego zoo also claims to be keeping all the other gorillas under observation, because all the apes have been exposed to one another.
Last April, a zoo tiger was tested positive for COVID-19 in New York.
However, as of yet, most of the animal population is safe from the fast-spreading virus.
