The World’s Monolith Mysteries
Updates from December 3rd
Over the past week since the first three monoliths appeared across the world, 22 new metal objects have made themselves known, being discovered by people on their early mornings walks, hikes, or runs. However, not all of these have unknown origins anymore. Some were placed as marketing gimmicks, some were made of wood instead of metal, while others yet were not even tall enough (just 3 feet high) to be comparable to the Utah, Romania and Pine Mountain, CA occurrences.
Here is a list of the latest monoliths that have appeared all over the world:

Updates from December 3rd
A third metal object known as a monolith has appeared on top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 and it looks more similar to the one from the Utah Desert in surface texture than the Romania Monolith. This object is also 10 feet tall, made of stainless steel, and triangular in structure. It is 200 pounds in weight but it was not attached to the ground the way the one in Utah was, and could be easily knocked over with a push.
Reporting from December 2nd
About 2 weeks ago, a mysterious 10-12 feet (3 meter) tall stainless metal object that people are calling a “monolith” appeared in the Utah Desert. Then again yesterday, another similar metal object with looped markings appeared halfway around the world in Piatra Neamt, Romania. Here is what we know about them and what bloggers are speculating about the appearances and subsequent disappearances.
The Utah Monolith was first discovered on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 by Utah Department of Public Safety officers from the Aero Bureau while flying over the region. It is reported that the department officers were helping the Division of Wildlife Resources in counting the area’s bighorn sheep when they spotted the metal object that they described as something right out of the 1968 sci-fi film “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
While the officers discovered it just the past month two weeks ago, Peta Pixel’s Dave Koch says that the structure was actually placed 4 years ago in 2016 because that is when it first appeared in the images on Google Earth. Observers also described the object as being made using three panels of stainless steel for the sides and two triangular plates for the top and bottom, formed into a tall triangular structure.
This object was reported to have disappeared on the evening of Friday, November 27th, 2020, but one photographer, Ross Bernards documented the Utah Monolith being toppled, dismantled, and wheelbarrowed away from its spot by 4 men. In its place, the bottom triangle plate of the object was left behind. In fact, the team of 4 men who removed the object even documented the process for their TikTok and shared it on the Instagram of Sylvan Christensen, mountain climber and guide.
Then, in a similar appearance in the Piatra Neamt city of Romania, a second monolith was discovered halfway around the world from the first object, similar in height and structure but with looped markings all over the three metal panels. The Romania Monolith was discovered last week presumably on Saturday, November 28th, 2020 and disappeared just 4 days later on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 standing in the Bâtca Doamnei plateau of the city.
The Mayor of Piatra Neamt, Mr. Andrei Carabelea finds the appearance rather entertaining as opposed to the Utah department’s reaction, saying, “There is no reason to panic for those who think there is still life in the universe.” In fact, he goes on to say in the statement given to The Independent, “My guess is that some alien, cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents’ UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world. First in Utah and then at Piatra Neamt,” finding it an honour that the “cheeky…teenagers” chose the Romanian city.
While the Romanian mayor has no real answers in regards to the monolith in his city, he does admit that he would not be upset if this appearance improves the city’s tourism and continues to say: “Beyond the conspiracy theories that can be tempting… I’d like to see this randomness as further proof that our city is special. For the earthlings and (maybe) not only.”
Whether these are a series of bizarre art installations, pranks, or a social experiment is unknown as yet, but we do know that the objects have been removed from their locations and that they were not magnetic.
Stay tuned for any such new appearances anywhere else across the world!
