Polish MPs Give Duda an #LGBTQIA+ Welcome!

The opposition party members in the parliament of Poland gave a very special and #nonbinary welcome to their new president Andrzej Duda at his swear-in ceremony that was held on Thursday, August 13th.

As the Polish president began his second term in office and got sworn in over a week ago, the opposition party members of his parliament decided that they had had enough of his transphobia. In an attempt to ensure that not just he but the entire world knew and understood where they stand on his radar and where the alliance stands, the 10 women dressed up in colour-coordinated outfits and rainbow-printed masks.

During his campaign for a second term in the presidential office, Duda strongly showed anti-LGBTQIA+ sentiments through the ruling right-wing nationalist party of ‘Law and Justice’ (PiS). One of his moves includes signing ‘The Family Card’ which would ban LGBTQIA+ lessons to be taught in schools.

Stay tuned for more on how this move by the leftist MPs affects the continuing president’s administration, if at all.
