Former French President Sentenced to Jail for Corruption

The former president of France, Nicholas Sarkozy has been in sentenced to three years in prison in a historic court ruling.

Sarkozy was charged with corruption during his one-term as president.

Critics even nicknamed him as ‘Bling-Bling’ for his brash and flashy political career; during which he met his wife Carla Bruni, a former model and singer.

The ex-president was investigated under claims that he had accepted illicit payments from the owner of L’Oreal, Liliane Bettencourt for his presidential campaign.

His phone calls were also taped, which caught him bribing Azibert with a prestigious job in Monaco.

Sarkozy’s lawyer has appealed to the French court, and the politician will remain free until the case is finished.
