Ellen’s Post-Allegations Apology
American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was recently part of the allegations against her show and the toxic environment at the production house in a series of complaints of bullying, racism, and sexual misconduct. At the time of the allegations that were made against her, the show, and the producers, she did not speak about the claims, but now, at the pilot episode of her 18th season on air, Ellen is finally speaking out and issuing a mass apology.
However, not everyone is satisfied with what she had to say, mostly due to the fact that she did not address any of the actual allegations that were made against her and her show. Over time, Ellen has been called out for being too aggressive while interviewing celebrities, and while talk show hosts are known for their brutal nature, it has been noted that often she has gone overboard with the way she acts and the stunts she pulls with people, and we aren’t even talking about the allegations against the back-end of the show yet.
In her monologue apology, Ellen skimmed over topics, joking in between and merely saying for herself and the show:
“I learned that things happen here that never should have happened… I take that very seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected.”
While this would be a great start to an apology, this is basically all she said in regards to the allegations and claims, giving out a blanket apology and not addressing any of the problems that were pointed out about her or her show.
She continued on to say, “I am that person that you see on TV… I am also a lot of other things. Sometimes I get sad, I get mad, I get anxious, I get frustrated, I get impatient. And I am working on all of that. I am a work in progress.”
It is good to hear that she is making progress and working on herself, since acceptance of a problem is the first step to improving oneself.
