Consequences of Trump’s Presidency
What happens when people hoping to eliminate racial injustice take to the streets? Everything that you saw in the Summer of 2020. Remember the images? Peaceful protests, little children supporting their families with handmade placards, elderly people out on the streets to protest for equality because they knew they would not get hurt. Now, clear your mind and imagine what would happen were Donald Trump to lead protests and the narrative to apparently “Make America Great Again”. Open your eyes, read on, and surely what you imagined is far less destructive than what the caucasian, Republican citizens of the United States of America have caused to Federal Buildings, the Capitol, the Senate, the Congress, and more.
The January 6th, 2021 #MarchForTrump rally was attended by thousands at the White House Ellipse. Current President of the US Donald J. Trump lost the election in November 2020 and then decided that a second election was required in the state of Georgia. While Georgia was won by Republicans originally in November 2020, according to the New York Times, Democrats won Georgia via Jon Ossoff’s 50.40% majority vote count. Knowing Trump and his supporters’ attitudes, it was already predicted how they would react, but the destruction they caused and are still causing in Washington, D.C., the Congress, the Capitol, the Senate, and any and all Federal Buildings were unprecedented as far as the levels to which they could go was concerned.
ABC News reported 4 deaths caused by the pro-Trump mob of protesters and rioters, a crowd that is supported by the police instead of being controlled the way it was happening in the summer during the racial injustice protests. Of these 4, 3 are said to have faced apparent medical emergencies that they did not survive. The fourth was a woman who was shot fatally by a Capitol police officer inside the US Capitol when a standoff was happening between the officers and Trump supporters breaching the building. It was the officers’ duty to ensure that the Capitol remained on lockdown to ensure continuation of the session inside. Noticing the events occurring outside the building, VP Mike Pence and Senate GOP Leader Mitchell McConnell condemned the protesters. VP Pence even went so far as to say:
While Trump has asked his supporters to stop and go home, he has also been caught actively lying and claiming that the election was stolen from the Republicans: “I know you’re in pain, I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us… But you have to go home now.” He was recorded saying this in a Tweet video that Twitter later took down due to Trump’s false claims in the video. Social media platforms have been blocking, taking down, and restricting his content and accounts in order to prevent further destructive content floating into the internet produced by current POTUS.

Meanwhile, President Elect Joe Biden has been trying to control the situation and prevent the same destruction from worsening conditions in the Capitol and other Federal Buildings. The DC National Guard, Federal Protective Service, Secret Service, Virginia National Guard, Virginia Police Department and the US Capitol Police have been activated to control the mobbing, looting protesters. People in MAGA Hats, people waving Trump 2020 and Confederate flags, and people breaking and entering have been photographed as they continue to rally against Biden’s upcoming inauguration into office on January 20th, 2021. Trump and his supporters are working towards decertifying the election with the hashtags “#StopTheSteal” and “DoNotCertify” being used by Trump in his campaign.
The biggest question everyone continues to ask is this: how is it that suddenly now that the protestors are caucasian, every police officer’s handcuffs and smoke bombs have disappeared? How is it that they don’t see the destruction and looting and breaking and entering? How is it that they arrested innocent Black people protesting peacefully, not looting or causing destruction, but now that the protester is Caucasian, there is no law in the world that could get them to make the necessary arrests and take the steps needed to stop Republicans from worsening situations in the Capitol?
