Call for Artists’ Work for Karachi Flood Relief
Every year during the monsoon season, most areas of Pakistan face rainfall levels higher than any time during the rest of the year, and while this usually only affects the areas lining the five rivers of Pakistan, this year, Karachi became victim to the season’s torments as well.
Over the past month’s monsoon season, Karachi has faced record-breaking levels of rainfall, causing flooding and severe destruction and damage to the infrastructure in the metropolitan, nearby areas, and other low-lying cities within the Sindh province of Pakistan.
Now, the artists of Karachi are being called upon by @ArtistsForFloodRelief via a newly formed Instagram page to donate their artworks towards flood relief for the city.
Artists for Flood Relief is a new initiative formed over the past week to provide relief in the wake of the flood-caused destruction that has drowned most of the city and its adjoining cities and areas.
While posting about starting this initiative, the team captioned the call for artworks saying:
“Karachi and its adjoining cities are grappling with the aftermath of the record-breaking monsoon spell. We, the artists community are taking the initiative to raise funds to provide relief to those severely affected by this natural disaster. We are calling out to all artists and photographers to get in touch if they would like to donate artworks towards this cause.”
They are calling on photographers and artists alike to get in touch and donate their two-dimensional works to the cause where all of the proceeds generated will be used “to help people affected by 2020 Karachi monsoon flooding.”
If you are an artist or photographer from Pakistan, DM the page via Instagram or email them at artistsforfloodrelief@gmail.com.
