Sleep Well, Baby Jack
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend said their final goodbyes and goodnights to their stillborn baby, whom they had named Jack during the pregnancy, on October 1st after several placenta, fluid, and bleeding issues over the past several weeks.
Throughout the duration of her third pregnancy that she announced first in mid-August, the model/TV-presenter had been documenting most of the aspects of her and baby Jack’s journey on her social media. As September started, things started getting tricky for her because of issues with her placenta, followed closely by excessive bleeding over the past weekend. However, she assured fans that the bleeding had been controlled and that she and the baby were okay.
They had found out that the baby would be a boy and she also accidentally revealed the gender of the baby on September 18th, 2020 through one of her baby documentation posts. Sometime after that, they decided to start calling him ‘Jack’, something that they had not done with their older two children, Luna (2016) and Miles (2018).
In her latest post from October 1st, 2020, she posted black-and-white photographs from the hospital room of herself crying, herself with husband John Legend, and the two of them as she held Baby Jack afterwards. Here is what she said in the caption as an explanation:
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.
We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.
To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.
Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.
We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
Later, driving back from the hospital, she tweeted saying:
Driving home from the hospital with no baby. How can this be real.

Losing a sibling, child, or even a pet and not being able to get back in contact with them for a few minutes to days or months is something that is extremely stressful. But losing a child is a pain unfathomable unless experienced.
We’re so sorry Chrissy.
