Russia Announces COVID-19 Vaccine
President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has announced that they have successfully invented and approved the regulation of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Russian human coronavirus vaccine has been dubbed ‘Sputnik V’ and is currently undergoing the final stages of its clinical trials for testing the safety and the efficacy of the newly invented drug. The trials have been completed within the span of two months’ time. Whether this is to win the global race and get ahead in furthering their GDP and economy or whether they truly want to and hope to help humankind beat this virus is unclear, as it will ever be, but this move by Moscow and by Russia couldn’t come any sooner.
While some countries are deepening the strength of their restrictions and coronavirus safety guidelines, numerous developing or under-developed economies that are struggling to cope in the current conditions are on the verge of returning to what was considered a ‘normal’ routine until February 2020.
Sputnik V has been developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute. According to The Nation Pakistan, Putin has even administered the vaccine on one of his own daughters to prove its safety.
The World Health Organization is also in “close contact” with the health authorities in Russia to pre-qualify the vaccine, as stated by UN spokesman Tarik Jasarevic at a Geneva online press briefing, according to France 24.
